“I am costume designer, who enjoys creating characters spanning multiple genres of entertainment. Working in theatre, opera, film, and television allowed me to gain experience in a variety of performance mediums. Prioritizing a well- rounded body of work helps me consistently see the world through new eyes and has proven invaluable in my growth as a designer.

While building my career as a costume designer, I have gone through many evolutions in discovering my own artistic process and now believe that the most effective storytellers never find a conclusion in that journey. Bringing a narrative to life is a human experience. As people evolve, the creator must, or our interpersonal connection will be lost. Costume designers are directly in the business of people. I do not simply focus on fashion, but create a character from the inside out, using the art of dress. As human beings, we only get one body to carry us through this life and how we clothe that body has deep meaning. What a person wears, is a window to their soul; their dreams, their struggles, their roots, their story.

One of the most special parts of my job, is being able to work with a diverse ensemble of artists to create something highly entertaining, motivating, or even thought provoking. I consistently aspire to give audience members an emotionally visual storytelling experience.

As designers, we are constantly looking for ways to improve our process, our world outlook, and ultimately, we never stop learning. I believe this has always drawn me into the world of education and, in addition to my design aspirations. I have a passion for working with students and hold an assistant professorship at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

I continue to balance my career as a mentor in theatre education, with artistically challenging work as a designer. The human experience is the foundation of character driven storytelling and it is my greatest hope to bring this energy into future professional collaborations.”
